Heathrow Airport is closed today (Friday 21st March 2025) due to a fire in a nearby electrical
Substation. It is currently anticipated to reopen at midnight tonight, but this is of course subject to change as the situation evolves.
Airlines have a duty to provide meals and accommodation and arrange alternative flights at no additional cost to the traveller. Anyone affected by this disruption should contact their airline as soon as possible. A summary of a travellers rights can be found here – Click here
If travel was booked through a travel management company, they may also be able to assist.
Claims should be made to the airline in the first instance but if a claim needs to be made under the UMAL travel cover, please ensure all receipts for additional expenditure are retained. Cancellation/Curtailment/Rearrangement claim forms can be found on the UMAL website – Travel Claim Form.
