The successful candidate will ideally be a graduate with 3+ years marketing communications experience ideally gained in the insurance industry, is fully or part CIM qualified and who are keen to take their career to the next level. This is a unique opportunity for the right individual to create and shape all of our marketing. Reporting directly to our CEO, they will also have the autonomy and authority to devise integrated marketing communications strategies and tactics, and recommend the resources needed to deliver a plan that effectively supports our growth objectives for 2022 and beyond. Job Summary

To deliver the Marketing and Communications function within UMAL.

Lead this function by developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies that effectively supports UMAL’s current and future growth objectives.

Also to provide marketing and communications support to the UMAL team and UMAL Members. This requires a background or degree focused in media and/or marketing and communications and a minimum of five years’ practical experience.

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with the CEO and the Board to develop and be responsible for delivering an integrated marketing and communications strategy on behalf of the business and its Members.
  • Create and execute on a plan to manage delivery of the marketing and communications strategy.
  • Ensure that all communications are consistent with: –
    • Key marketing messages.
    • Branding guidelines.
  • Help devise and deliver a social media strategy focused on the Higher Education sector to help enhance the profile of UMAL.
  • Produce and manage a corporate communications calendar.
  • Be responsible for delivering content for newsletters, risk alerts, conferences, presentations and the website.
  • Maintain the website and monitor website activity and traffic.
  • Maintain and refresh all internal and external documentation to ensure compliance withbrand guidelines.
  • Conferences and client facing events.
  • Help prepare “pitch” documents and presentations.
  • Maintain UMAL’s online Members Document Library.
  • Work closely with all parts of the business to help ensure the high level of service that our Members demand.
Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies
  • Strong communication skills, internally and externally.
  • Understanding of strategic communication and marketing.
  • Competent in the use of all basic Microsoft Office products i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Able to produce high quality communication content and documents that represent the company externally. As a minimum UMAL require: –
    • knowledge and use of basic web design tools such as WordPress.
    • knowledge and use of LinkedIn.
    • knowledge and use of content management platforms such as ContentCal.
    • knowledge and use of PDF creation and editing tools such as Adobe InDesign or Illustrator.
  • First class customer focus and an ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Positive attitude and effective engagement skills.
  • Results focussed and must be a team player.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Marketing & Communications or Media graduate with minimum of five years practical marketing and communications experience.
  • Fully or part CIM qualified.
  •  Knowledge of the insurance industry would be advantageous.
